EPR

Turning battery responsibility into action.

Supporting businesses in managing their responsibilities across the battery lifecycle.

What EPR means for battery businesses

Extended Producer Responsibility extends a producer's responsibility beyond making and selling a product, to what happens once it has been used.

For batteries, the Battery Waste Management Rules (BWMR 2022) mandate that manufacturers collect and recycle a significant portion of their batteries after end-of-life. It is a responsibility that runs the length of the battery lifecycle.

Who needs EPR support
  • Battery producers
  • Manufacturers
  • Importers
  • OEMs
  • Other stakeholders

ReBAT provides collection, recycling, documentation and compliance support under the applicable Battery Waste Management framework.

From responsibility to recovery

The EPR pathway.

A conceptual pathway, showing how a responsibility connects to recovery. Each business's route is scoped with them.

  1. 01

    Identify

What batteries fall under your responsibility.

  2. 02

    Register

    Establishing the responsibility formally.

  3. 03

    Collect

    Bringing end-of-life batteries back.

  4. 04

    Route

Moving them to where they can be recovered.

  5. 05

    Recover

    Recycling and material recovery.

  6. 06

    Document

Records of what was collected and recovered.

  7. 07

    Report

    Showing the responsibility was met.

EPR is more than paperwork

Responsibility becomes meaningful when it connects to what physically happens to the battery.

Traceability and visibility

A record you can stand behind.

Lifecycle records, the movement of material and information about its recovery are what give a responsibility substance. The more clearly a battery's journey can be followed, the more clearly the responsibility can be shown.

As stated in ReBAT’s brochure
  • EPR Certified

Authorised support for producer EPR obligations with transparent documentation.

  • CPCB Registered R4 Recycler

Authorised to recycle end-of-life batteries in India.
